After Michelangelo BUONAROTTI,
Head of a faun,
Terracotta proof
21cm
Studio Romanelli 19th century,
Based on the marble statue created by Michelangelo as a child around 1488, traces of which have been lost since the 1490's. A typical work of the Italian Renaissance under the supervision of the master BERTOLDO DI GIOVANNI, who had found a vestige of ancient statuary, a fragment of a faun's head. Anecdotally, Lorenzo de' Medici noticed the statue in the garden and remarked that old people didn't have such perfect teeth. The child immediately picked up the chisel and knocked out a tooth.
