Madeleine SOUGEZ (1891-1945) for PRIMAVERA, Lady with basin Proof in Soufflenheim earthenware Signed Primavera H. 22 cm Firing defects Our volume sculpture is fully in keeping with the themes of modernist decorative ceramics of the 1920s-1930s, characterized by nature-inspired motifs - fruit, figures or landscapes - combined with stylized, geometric shapes and bright glazed colors. Some of Madeleine Sougez's work for Primavera is inspired by biblical themes (the Flight into Egypt). These ceramics are produced by Ateliers d'Alsace in Soufflenheim.
