Masterpiece of ornamental turning - Lot 96
Masterpiece of ornamental turning Comprising 118 turned parts in boxwood and ebony The base of the foot includes a threaded secret box with guilloche decoration, a 50 mm-diameter star-shaped Canton ball with seven interlocking spheres terminating in an openwork double sphere with a box (diameter 100 mm). Height without tube: 118.5 cm Spring 2024 Lionel GISQUET (born 1964) - Master Craftsman A true wood alchemist, Lionel Gisquet occupies a singular place in contemporary craftsmanship. A passionate self-taught artist, he has revived the ornamental techniques of the Grand Siècle while developing his own creative processes. His works, governed by the mathematical rigor of the golden ratio, explore the full plasticity of the material: precision turning, heated, burnt or stained wood. This technical mastery, which he fervently transmits to the Musée des Tourneurs sur Bois d'Aiguines, transforms each piece into a dialogue between geometric structure and the organic life of the tree. We are honored to present these exceptional pieces, testimonies to rare expertise and extraordinary sensitivity.
