We are delighted to present two high-quality artists' studio collections for sale this summer in our special Paintings vacation.
Gisèle RENAUT: "Painter of the two Midis".
Gisèle RENAUT (1930-2020) studied with Charles PICART LE DOUX at the Grande Chaumière from 1953 to 1957, then met Charles CAMOIN, who became her mentor. She also charmed the eye of André DUNOYER de SEGONZAC, who wrote to her: "Your art is spontaneous and healthy, with an accent of truth that has become very rare today, obvious gifts of color and no concessions to fashionable aesthetic formulas. She exhibited at Bernheim's in Paris, and in the USA and Japan in the 1960s, before settling in Saint Tropez. Influenced by the Fauves, she found a taste for Renoir's colorful palette. But it was in Gordes and the rugged landscapes of the Alpilles that she glimpsed the lesson of Cézanne, painting from the motif, and succeeded in synthesizing a playful art (of the Fauves and Renoir) with a cruder one. This is his pictorial contribution, via the discovery of the "two Midi".
Jean-Pierre DOLLA: The Var prodigy
Jean-Pierre DOLLA (b. 1946) did us the honor of entrusting us with his studio collection, having recently left his native Haut Var region. We owe him a protean and seductive body of work, first inspired by the Fauves, before turning to Pollock and Staël. A student at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, Jean-Pierre Dolla was awarded the Premier Prix de la Critique in 1971 at the age of 25 (as young as Bernard Buffet). Solo exhibitions followed in France and elsewhere. A mature artist and keen observer of his environment, he has delivered saturated landscapes, expressionist portraits and lyrical abstractions of explosive effectiveness!
We're sure you'll appreciate their works, as well as those of the other artists featured in this summer sale.
Now it's time to paint and bid.
