Attribué à Michele Pace del Campidoglio (Rome? Circa 1610-16 - Lot 336
Attribué à Michele Pace del Campidoglio (Rome? Circa 1610-1670) Still life with watermelons, figs and grapes Oil on canvas 98x137 cm We would like to thank the Cabinet Turquin, and in particular Mr. Stéphane Pinta, for this attribution. Our painting is similar to works by this 17th-century Roman artist, known for his watermelon still lifes. Compare it with a work by this artist exhibited at Wollaton Hall, Nottingham. This work also evokes the master Abraham Brueghel. Our still life is presented on an old canvas and shows slight cracks and missing paint layers at the edges of the composition. The varnish is darkened, but there are no major restorations.
